BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 19. Azerbaijan is a natural energy partner for Europe today, Ambassador of Poland to Azerbaijan Rafal Poborski told Trend.

“We hope that very ambitious projects and plans to increase Azerbaijani gas deliveries to Europe will be fulfilled in the nearest future under the recently signed Memorandum of Understanding between Azerbaijan and the EU, during the visit of President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen,” the ambassador said.

He said today the EU is in need to find other energy partner, and fortunately for Poland, the country has been conducting the policy of diminishing the dependency on Russian gas for a while now.

"As a member state of the EU Poland keeps it fingers crossed that even more fruitful cooperation with Azerbaijan will come to life soon," he added.

“Azerbaijan is a natural partner in this regard, having the Southern Gas Corridor (SGC), promising oil and gas field on the Caspian Sea, and general successful cooperation with the EU,” Poborski said.

The ambassador also expressed hope for increasing green energy cooperation between the two countries in the near future.

“As far as green energy cooperation is concerned, we are not cooperating to the extent we wish yet. We discuss the great potential in this field with the Ministry of Economy of Azerbaijan. Polish companies are quite interested and have a lot to offer to Azerbaijan in this area,” he added.
