BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 25. The cargo transshipment through the Port of Gemlik of Türkiye amounted to 9.3 million tons from January through September 2022, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Türkiye said, Trend reports citing TurkicWorld.
According to the ministry, 770,721 tons have been handled by ships flying the Turkish flag, while 8.5 million tons have been transshipped by vessels under the flags of other countries.
"In the reporting period, the Gemlik port delivered 436,354 tons of transit cargo," the ministry said.
Turkish ports handled 269.57 million tons of freight from January through September 2022.
Ships under the Turkish flag transferred 21.3 million tons of cargo, whereas ships under the flags of other countries – 275.2 million tons.
Moreover, during this period, Turkish ports transshipped 60.67 million tons of transit cargo.
