BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 5. A new generation source will be created at the "Azerbaijan" thermal power plant, Baba Rzayev, President of Azerenergy JSC said, Trend reports via his article, published in "Azerbaijan" newspaper.
According to Rzayev, as a result of the connection of steam turbines of the 7th and 8th power plants to the 1280-megawatt power plant, the total capacity will reach 1,880 megawatts.
"This will save 800 million cubic meters of gas per year by reducing the consumption of conventional fuel for the production of 1 kilowatt-hour of electricity from 335 grams to 225 grams, that is, 110 grams per kilowatt-hour," he said.
Rzayev also noted that this meant that investments in the new station would pay off in a maximum of 6 years.
