Türkiye reveals data on cargo traffic through its Istanbul Airport

BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 9. The number of passengers carried by the Turkish Istanbul International Airport in November 2022 increased by 78 percent compared to the same period in 2021, and totaled 59,06 million people, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Türkiye said, Trend reports via TurkicWorld.

According to the ministry, in November passenger traffic on domestic flights increased by 52 percent and totaled 14,7 million people, and on international flights increased by 88 percent to 44,2 million people compared to the same period of the last year.

Meanwhile, the airport in November 2022 handled 2,3 million tons of cargo, which is 69 percent more compared to the same period of the previous year.

During this period, the airport's domestic air cargo traffic amounted to 176,804 tons (a year-on-year increase of 25 percent), while international cargo traffic was 2.1 million tons (a rise of 73 percent).

Furthermore, 388,467 flights were implemented in November 2022, increasing by 55 percent year over year. Meanwhile, the number of domestic flights amounted to 100,950 (a growth of 39 percent), whereas international flights – 287,511 (a rise of 61 percent).

In November 2022, passenger traffic at all Turkish airports totaled more than 169 million people, whilst cargo turnover stood at 3.699 million tons.

At the end of 2021, passenger movement through all Turkish airports made up 128.387 million people, and cargo turnover – was 3.358 million tons.
