BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 3. Azerbaijan's crude oil exports to Italy in December 2022 amounted to 854,240 tons, Trend reports via the Ministry of Environment and Energy Security of Italy.

According to the statistics, as Russia's crude exports to the country have been cut completely, Azerbaijan ranked first among the main exporters of crude to Italy in the reporting period of 2022, followed by Libya (836,467 tons), and Kazakhstan (773,921 tons).

For the whole of 2022, Italy imported 62.5 million tons of oil, of which 8.9 million tons accounted for supplies from Azerbaijan. At the same time, the total value of crude imports to Italy amounted to $6.6 billion.

Meanwhile, Azerbaijan’s total crude oil and oil products’ exports stood at around 26.024 million tons worth almost $19.484 billion in 2022.

There are three main oil pipelines transporting oil from Azerbaijan to its neighbors and on to world markets: Baku-Novorossiysk Pipeline, Baku-Supsa Pipeline and Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) Pipeline.

In addition, railway lines traversing the length of Azerbaijan are also used to convey oil to the Batumi and Kulevi terminals located on the Black Sea along the coast of Georgia.
