BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 29. The volume of trade turnover in Azerbaijan’s capital Baku, from January through February 2023, increased by 4.9 percent compared to 2022 and amounted to 4.8 billion manat ($2.8 billion), Trend reports via the Baku City Statistics Department.

According to the department, the volume of food, beverages and tobacco products sold in the markets of Baku, in reporting period, increased by 6.2 percent up to 2.5 billion manat ($1.4 billion) compared to the reporting period in 2022.

Moreover, the sales of non-food products declined by 3.7 percent to 2.2 billion manat ($1.3 billion).

As the department notes, 33.4 percent of the sold products fell on enterprises with the status of a legal entity, 47.9 percent accounted to retail facilities owned by individual entrepreneurs, while 18.7 percent accounted for the markets of Baku.

At the same time, the volume of trade turnover in Baku in 2022 increased by five percent compared to 2021 and totaled 30.8 billion manat ($18.1 billion).

According to the State Customs Committee, Azerbaijan's foreign trade turnover in 2022 increased by 55.36 percent or by $18.7 billion year-on-year from $33.9 billion to $52.6 billion.
