BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 12. About 95,790 tons of wheat have been exported from Russia's Stavropol Krai (Stavropol Territory) to Azerbaijan in the first quarter of 2023, Trend reports via the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance of the Russian Federation (Rosselkhoznadzor).

According to the Rosselkhoznadzor, Azerbaijan holds the position of the main importer of Stavropol wheat.

The agency note that all products corresponding to quarantine phytosanitary requirements of the importing country are approved for export.

"The Rosselkhoznadzor continues to expand the list of Russian organizations that have the right to export to Azerbaijan," the agency said.

Moreover, in the first quarter of 2023, the North Caucasus Interregional Department of Rosselkhoznadzor monitored the shipment of 122,270 tons of wheat grain for export from the Stavropol Territory. Meanwhile, small shipments of wheat sent to Türkiye totaled 374 tons, while wheat shipped to Iraq reached 300 tons. In comparison with the same period last year, the export of Stavropol wheat increased by 53 percent.

Overall, Azerbaijan imported 1.292 million tons of wheat in 2022, which is 12.6 percent, or 144,890 tons more than in the preceding year.
