BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 14. Azerbaijan's gross domestic product (GDP) from January through March 2023 increased by 0.4 percent to 30.31 billion manat ($17.8 billion) compared to the same period in 2022, Trend reports with reference to the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan.

As the source said, in the reporting period of 2023, value added in the non-oil sector grew by 4.9 percent, while in the oil and gas sector decreased by 3.9 percent in the accounting period year-on-year.

In the structure of GDP, the share of industry in the specified period was 47.5 percent.

According to the committee, 9 percent of GDP accounted for trade and repair of vehicles, 5.4 percent for transport and warehousing, 2.6 percent for agriculture, forestry, and fish farming, 5 percent for construction, 1.9 percent for the tourism sector, 1.5 percent for information and communications, while 17.6 percent of GDP accounted for other sectors of the economy.

Meanwhile, net income from the import tax in the specified period reached 9.5 percent of GDP.

To note, from January through March this year GDP per capita in Azerbaijan totaled 2,991.2 manat ($1,759).

Overall, Azerbaijan's GDP in 2022 increased by 4.6 percent to 133.8 billion manat ($78.7 billion) compared to the preceding year.
