Turkish Petroleum Corporation reveals time frame for Black Sea gas supplies

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 14. Gas supplies from the Black Sea are scheduled for early May, Director General of the Turkish Petroleum Corporation (TPAO) Melih Han Bilgin told journalists, Trend reports with reference to TurkicWorld.

"Gas will start entering the system in full at the beginning of May, and in 2028 the volume of gas will reach 60 million cubic meters. At the first stage, Black Sea gas will cover 15 percent of the country's needs, and recoup investment costs in about a year," Bilgin said.

Moreover, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in August 2020, announced that Türkiye had discovered hydrocarbon reserves in the Black Sea, which amount to about 320 bcm of natural gas. According to Erdogan, this discovery will help to release the country from energy dependence on other countries. He also noted that energy resources are significant for Turkish National Security Council.
