BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 19. The trade turnover of Azerbaijan with EU countries exceeded $9.4 billion and their share in Azerbaijan’s total foreign trade turnover accounted for 52.98 percent from January through April 2023, the Azerbaijani State Customs Committeeе told Trend

From January through April 2023, Azerbaijan's trade with EU countries increased by 15.59 percent, or $1.27 billion year-on-year.

In the reporting period, Azerbaijan's total foreign trade turnover increased by slightly over $2 billion (12.73 percent) compared to the same period of 2022, from $15.8 billion to $17.8 billion.

Out of the total foreign trade turnover, exports accounted for $12.58 billion, which is $761.59 million (6.44 percent) more than the same period last year. The share of exports in the foreign trade turnover totaled 70.37 percent against 74.53 percent a year earlier.

Azerbaijan's imports in the first four months of this year increased by $1.25 billion (31.12 percent), from $4 billion to about $5.29 billion. The share of imports in foreign trade turnover amounted to 29.62 percent against 25.47 percent a year earlier.

As a result, in the reporting period, the balance of foreign trade turnover, remaining positive, decreased by more than $495.89 million (6.37 percent) on an annual basis, to $7.28 billion against $7.7 billion in the same period of the previous year.
