BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 16. As of May 31, 2023, the project portfolio of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in Azerbaijan amounted to 813 million euros, Trend reports.
According to the EBRD data, the loan portfolio is intended for the implementation of 34 projects.
The majority of the portfolio (88 percent, or 714 million euros) is focused on investments in sustainable infrastructure, 9 percent (or 70 million euros) on investments in industry, trade, and the agricultural sector, and 3 percent (or 29 million euros) on investments in financial institutions.
Overall, the bank has invested over 3.538 billion euros in Azerbaijan in 188 projects.
The EBRD has been cooperating with Azerbaijan since 1992, and is currently the leading investor in the country.
Earlier, Head of the EBRD Office in Azerbaijan, Kamola Mahmudova, announced that the expected investment project portfolio for the next 3 years amounts to $750 million. Approximately $300 million of the EBRD's investments are scheduled to be implemented for 2023 in various sectors such as energy, transportation, private sector, SMEs, and the banking sector.
