Azerbaijan discloses commercial gas output in 1H2023

BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 9. The volume of commercial gas production in Azerbaijan from January through June 2023, given the reserves at the beginning of this year, amounted to 18.17 billion cubic meters, the State Statistical Committee told Trend.

According to the committee, 29.9 percent of this volume accounted for domestic consumption, 56.5 percent was exported, and 12.1 percent remained as reserves as of early July.

Out of the domestically consumed natural gas, 59.6 percent served industrial purposes, with the rest (40.4 percent) distributed to the population.

In the first half of this year, Azerbaijan exported 11.8 billion cubic meters of natural gas, a four percent increase compared to the same period in 2022.

During the reporting period, the population totally consumed 2.5 billion cubic meters of natural gas, up by 5.1 percent on an annual basis.

Baku accounted for 38.6 percent of total consumption, the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic for 2.8 percent, Absheron-Khizi for 11.3 percent, Ganja-Dashkasan for 6.1 percent, Lankaran-Astara for 5.9 percent, Gazakh-Tovuz for 5.8 percent, Central-Aran for 5.7 percent, and Guba-Khachmaz for 5%. Shaki-Zagatala has 4.9 percent, Karabakh has 4.5 percent, Mil-Mughan has 3.6 percent, Shirvan-Salyan has 3.4 percent, and Mountain-Shirvan has 2.4 percent.

Azerbaijan generated 35 billion cubic meters of marketable gas in 2022, a 7.3 percent increase year on year.
