BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 10. Cummins Inc. and Chevron U.S.A. Inc., a subsidiary of Chevron Corporation, have signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at harnessing their synergies in hydrogen, natural gas, and other environmentally-friendly fuel value chains, Trend reports.

According to Chevron, this memorandum builds upon the prior strategic partnership between the two companies concerning hydrogen and renewable natural gas, and it is anticipated to encompass additional liquid renewable fuels, including blends of renewable gasoline, biodiesel, and renewable diesel. The objective of this collaboration is to drive the adoption of sustainable practices within the commercial and industrial sectors in North America.

Jennifer Rumsey, President and CEO of Cummins Inc., noted that Cummins is committed to bringing net zero strategy to fruition.

"Our Accelera by Cummins initiative features leading zero-emissions technologies for commercial and industrial applications, and alongside our extensive range of engine-based solutions that currently reduce greenhouse gas and other emissions, our strategic collaboration with Chevron aims to enhance accessibility to fuel and infrastructure. This partnership aims to expand the availability of alternative and renewable fuels while simultaneously reducing emissions," she said.

Both Cummins and Chevron have played pivotal roles in researching, developing, and globally implementing alternative fuel innovations, systems, and technologies. Through their collective efforts, they will concentrate on enabling large-scale commercial development of alternative fuels production, transportation, and delivery systems for industrial and commercial markets. This collaboration centers on transportation vehicles manufactured by Cummins and covers various fuel categories, including hydrogen, natural gas, and other lower carbon intensity options such as renewable gasoline blends, biodiesel, renewable diesel, compressed natural gas, and other liquid renewables. The overarching goal is to foster broader commercial adoption.
