Trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Tajikistan declines

BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 17. The trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Tajikistan amounted to $2.376 million (0.06 percent) of the total Azerbaijani foreign trade turnover with the CIS countries from January through July 2023, Azerbaijan’s Customs Committee said, Trend reports.

The trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Tajikistan decreased by 14.06 percent ($2.764 million) from January through July 2023 year-on-year.

Tajikistan's imports from Azerbaijan amounted to $2.3 million from January through July 2023, which is 14.45 percent less than in the same period of 2022 ($2.73 million).

Additionally, Tajikistan imported $40,500 from Azerbaijan during the reporting period of 2023, which is a 20 percent increase over the same time in 2022 ($33,750).

From January through July 2023 compared to the same period in 2022, Azerbaijan's foreign trade turnover climbed by 0.91 percent ($274.5 million), from $30.1 billion to $30.3 billion.

Exports made up $20.8 billion of the overall international trade turnover, according to the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan, down $1.8 billion (7.92 percent) from the same time previous year. Exports were up 68.5 percent of overall foreign trade turnover, down from 75.07 percent a year earlier.

Additionally, Azerbaijan's imports rose from $7.5 billion to nearly $9.6 billion during the reporting period, a $2.1 billion (27.52 percent) rise. Imports represented 31.5 percent of total foreign trade turnover, up from 24.93 percent in the prior year.

Overall, the balance of foreign trade turnover in the reporting period declined by more than $3.9 billion (25.55 percent) annually to $11.2 billion from $15.1 billion in the reporting period of 2022 while still being positive.
