BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 10. Global liquid fuels production is set to increase by 1.6 mb/d in 2025, Trend reports.
The increase in global liquid fuels production is projected to be 0.6 mb/d in 2024, a decrease from the 1.7 million b/d observed in 2023, the US Energy Information Administration Agency (EIA) projects.
The deceleration in global liquid fuels production growth for 2024 is attributed to both OPEC+ production cuts and a slowdown in non-OPEC growth. Anticipated OPEC+ crude oil production shows a decline of 0.6 mb/d for 2024, but this is counterbalanced by a 1.2 mb/d production growth outside the group.
Notably, growth is expected to be lower in 2024 compared to 2023, primarily due to a slowdown in supply growth from the US, Canada, and Brazil. However, the forecast predicts an acceleration in supply growth in Guyana for the same year.
As the existing OPEC+ production targets, announced in the June 2023 meeting, expire at the close of 2024, the EIA anticipates OPEC+ will boost crude oil production by 0.7 mb/d in 2025. However, the agency also expects that some voluntary production cuts from Saudi Arabia and other OPEC+ countries will persist into 2025, aiming to counterbalance the projected production growth from outside the group, which is estimated at 0.9 mb/d for the same year.
