BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 5. The number of hired workers in Azerbaijan increased by 7,900 people or 0.46 percent on the first of January 2024 compared to the same period of 2023, Trend reports.
According to the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan, the total number of hired workers for the first of January 2024 amounted to 1.7 million people, including 899,100 in the state sector of the economy and 842,700 in the private sector.
Out of the total number of employed citizens, 19.1 percent work in education, 18.6 percent in trade and vehicle repair, and 8.4 percent in health care and social services.

Meanwhile, according to preliminary data, the average monthly nominal wage of salaried employees in Azerbaijan in January 2024 increased by 11.2 percent compared to the same period of 2023 and amounted to 933.8 manat ($548.5).
The average monthly nominal wage was higher in the mining industry, financial and insurance activities, information and communication, and scientific and technical activities.
