BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 23. Azerbaijan's industrial businesses and private entrepreneurs manufactured products worth 21.1 billion manat ($12.4 billion), representing a 13.44 percent growth from January through April 2024, Trend reports.
The data from Azerbaijan's State Statistics Committee shows that production in the oil and gas sector decreased by 0.2 percent and in the non-oil sector rose by 8.7 percent during the reporting period year on year.
Meanwhile, the mining sector accounted for 64.6 percent of
industrial output, the processing sector for 29.3 percent, the
production, distribution, and supply of electricity, gas, and steam
for 5.3 percent, and the water, waste treatment, and recycling
sector for 0.8 percent.
Furthermore, commercial oil output in Azerbaijan declined by 5.7
percent from January through April 2024, while commercial gas
production climbed by 4.3 percent.
In the processing sector, manufacturing of metallurgical industry products increased by 55 percent, construction materials by 44.6 percent, furniture by 36.4 percent, computer, electronic, and optical products increased by 31.3 percent, rubber and plastic products by 30.5 percent, beverages by 27.5 percent, leather and leather products, footwear by 25.2 percent, automotive, trailers and semi-trailers by 22.5 percent, tobacco products by 19.2 percent, clothing by 19.1 percent, electrical equipment by 17.7 percent, finished metal products by 12.6 percent, chemical industry products by 8.6 percent, pharmaceutical products by 6.4 percent, petroleum products by 5.3 percent, food products by 0.7 percent, and paper and cardboard by 0.4 percent.
The committee's data also shows that production in the textile industry decreased by 8.6 percent, printing products by 8.6 percent, woodworking and wooden products by 11.2 percent, installation and repair of machinery and equipment by 13.9 percent, machinery and equipment by 16.8 percent, transportation equipment by 27.3 percent, and industrial products by 59.8 percent.
In the reporting period, production in the electricity, gas, and steam generation, distribution, and supply sectors decreased by 4.6 percent, while in the water supply, waste treatment, and processing sectors, it increased by 8.2 percent compared to the same period last year.
To note, industrial enterprises and individual entrepreneurs in Azerbaijan produced 66.6 billion manats ($39.1 billion) worth of products in 2023.
