Azerbaijan’s Khazar Inshaat construction company has begun construction of another housing estate in the Gobu settlement, located 20 kilometers from Baku, Rashad Gurbanov, head of the company’s marketing department, told Trend.

This includes construction of several buildings for internally displaced persons (IDPs), as part of the third project in the Gobu settlement, Gurbanov noted.

“This is a large-scale state project, within the framework of which the company implemented the phased construction of residential buildings in Gobu,” the company’s representative added. “The project is carried out in several stages. Residential buildings have already been completed and commissioned as part of the Gobu-1 and Gobu-2 stages.”

“The implementation the Gobu-3 construction project has begun, which provides residential facilities for 1,000 IDP families,” Gurbanov said. “As part of the third phase, the construction of several nine-story buildings is planned. The construction completion is scheduled for the summer of 2020. As part of this large-scale project, there are plans to create the necessary infrastructure for IDPs, including the construction of a kindergarten, a school.”

The company’s representative noted that in the previous Gobu-1 and Gobu-2 projects, which were completed last year, housing was commissioned for 2,000 IDP families.

To date, in order to improve the living conditions of IDPs, 102 settlements have been built, which makes up a living area of ​​3.5 million square meters. Last year, 5,901 IDP families - approximately 27,000 people, were provided with houses and apartments.

In May last year, with the participation of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva, three residential complexes were opened for IDPs.

One of them is the Gobu Park residential complex, in the Lokbatan settlement of Garadagh district in Baku.

In December last year, a complex for 1,001 IDP families was opened in the Absheron region, and a complex for 1,005 IDP families was opened in the center of Sumgait city.
