Uzbekistan increases volume of construction work in 1H2020

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 23

The total volume of construction work in Uzbekistan increased by 7.3 percent in the period from January through June 2020 compared to the same period of 2019 to almost 43 trillion soum ($4.2 billion), Trend reports with reference to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.

Construction work carried out by large contractors increased by 32.4 percent to 12.5 trillion soum ($1.2 billion), and their share in the total structure of construction work rose up to 29 in the period from January through June 2020 (in the corresponding period of 2019 the share was 24.3 percent).

Construction of buildings and facilities by small enterprises and micro firms decreased by 5.1 percent to 23.6 trillion soum ($2.3 billion), and their share in the total volume of construction work carried out in the country fell from 56 percent to 54.8 percent, compared to the same period of 2019.

In order to prevent the decline in construction volume, the government of Uzbekistan intends to allocate an additional 3.6 trillion soum ($352.6 million) to this sector.
