BAKU, Azerbaijan, Sept.2

By Nargiz Sadikhova - Trend:

Construction of an international airport in Kazakhstan’s Turkestan region continues according to the plan, Trend reports with reference to the Civil Aviation Committee of Kazakhstan.

The work on laying the 4th layer of asphalt concrete pavement on the artificial runway has been completed. Finishing work is being done in the terminal building. Moreover, the contractor is working on the purchase of special equipment for the airport.

The project for construction of the Turkestan International Airport is carried out within the framework of a public-private partnership. The YDA Turkish company is a private partner for the project.

The future airport will be on 290.7 hectares of land, whereas its capacity will be 450 passengers per hour. The airport will operate two passenger boarding bridges.

In addition to the airfield facilities (runway, taxiways, apron), the project also provides for the construction of the necessary infrastructure: a refueling complex, an emergency rescue station, service and technical facilities, a patrol road along the perimeter fence and other life support facilities of the airport.

International Airport in Kazakhstan’s Turkestan region will be commissioned before the end of 2020.
