Azerbaijan increases production of construction materials

Building materials worth 614.7 million manat ($361.6 million) were produced in Azerbaijan from January through October 2020, which is 26.4 percent more than in the same period of 2019, Trend reports citing the State Statistical Committee’s report.

During the reporting period, the production volume of building gypsum amounted to 18,300 tons (growth by 2.3 times), building bricks – to 421,000 cubic meters, indicating an annual increase of 20.5 percent, and the production volume of ready-mixed concrete grew by 5.1 percent and surpassed 1.5 million tons.

Besides, the volume of production of processed marble, travertine, and alabaster, and their products made up 20,600 tons, decreasing by 33.7 percent year on year, prefabricated concrete structures – 37,200 cubic meters, a rise of 1.4 percent.

In 10M2020, the production of asphalt dropped by 2 times, amounting to 145,900 tons, while cement production slid by 1.2 percent and stood at 2,800 tons.

Moreover, the production volume of building blocks and bricks made of cement, artificial stone and concrete fell by 37.5 percent, making up 47,600 tons.
