Uzbekistan and South Korea discussed the acceleration of the implementation of an investment project for the construction of a modern cement plant in the Beruni region of Karakalpakstan, Trend reports referring to Dunyo information agency.
The issue was discussed by the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to South Korea Vitaly Fen and the chairman of the South Korean CARIS Co., Ltd. Yu Cheol.
The negotiations were also attended by the Deputy Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Karakalpakstan Republic Alibek Kamalov, as well as the governor of the Beruni region Atabek Saparbayev, Counselor of the Embassy Alisher Abdusalomov.
Alibek Kamalov informed about the importance of organizing the production of cement in Karakalpakstan since every year there is an increase in the volume of construction work, where high-quality cement is required.
It was also noted that the construction of an industrial facility in the region will create new jobs and organize the production of export-oriented products. He called on the foreign partner to speed up the elaboration of financing for this project.
In turn, the South Korean side expressed interest in the high-quality and successful implementation of the project in Karakalpakstan. The chairman of the South Korean company noted that the representative office of CARIS Co., Ltd. in Tashkent is actively working on the completion of the feasibility study of the project as soon as possible in accordance with the requirements of the legislation of Uzbekistan. The financing and implementation of the first tranche are also at the stage of elaboration.
