Bulk of construction work completed in Uzbekistan falls on private sector

Also, non-governmental organizations have completed construction work for 84.1 trillion soums ($8 billion) with a total share of 95.8 percent, Trend reports referring to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.

According to the committee, construction work in the amount of 87.8 trillion soums ($8.4 billion) has been completed in Uzbekistan in 2020, which is 9.1 percent more compared to the last year.

The largest of construction work completed in Uzbekistan in 2020 fell on Tashkent, amounting to 21.4 percent. Almost three times less construction work was completed in the Tashkent region - 7.9 percent, Samarkand region - 6.5 percent, and in the Bukhara region - 6.1 percent.

At the same time, the share of construction work in Fergana, Kashkadarya, Surkhandarya, Andijan, Namangan, and other regions ranges between 5.8 percent - 5 percent.

In addition, the least share of Uzbekistan’s construction work in 2020 fell on Karakalpakstan Republic, Khorezm, Jizzakh, Syrdarya regions, 4.3 percent, 3.5 percent, 3.2 percent, and 2.5 percent, respectively.

Moreover, state-owned organizations completed construction work for a total of 3.6 trillion soums ($343 million). Their share in the country amounted to 4.2 percent.

It was noted that large construction organizations carried out construction work worth 24.2 trillion soums ($2.3 billion) in the structure of the total volume of construction work.

At the same time, the volume of construction work carried out by small enterprises and micro firms amounted to 46,4 trillion soums ($4.4 billion).
