By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:

Tender on the construction of Georgian Mtatsminda-Rustaveli ropeway failed for the second time, Trend reports via the State Procurement Agency.

As reported, the tender on Mtatsminda-Rustaveli ropeway was announced in December of the last year.

The construction of a ropeway from Rustaveli Avenue to Mtatsminda Park was estimated at 7.37 million lari ($2.2 million). The candidate for the tender was the "Caucasus Road Project". However, the tender commission disqualified the company due to a lack of relevant experience.

The tender on Rustaveli-Mtatsminda ropeway was already announced last November and it failed.

The initial agreement on the implantation of the Mtatsminda-Rustaveli Ropeway project was signed in June 2012, but since then its technical parameters changed several times.

Project delay is largely due to the change of ropeway stop. Originally, the ropeway station must be placed near the Radisson Hotel, later in 2016 the decision has changed and the building of the Academy of Sciences has been determined as the ropeway station.

Some 7.37 million lari is not a major expenditure of the ropeway construction. Georgian Transport Company will pay 1.85 million euro in addition to DOPPELMAYR company for other engineering works.
