Number of construction companies in Uzbekistan increases

The largest number of construction companies operating in Uzbekistan as of March 1, 2021 accounts for Tashkent, amounting to 8,191, Trend reports with reference to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.

According to the State Statistics Committee, as of March 1, 2021, 41,929 construction companies operate in the country.

It is reported that the number of construction companies for the reporting period increased by 4,712 companies compared to the same period last year.

In addition, 1,251 news construction enterprises were created from January through February 2021.

Thus, Tashkent has the largest number of construction companies – 8,191 company. Significantly fewer construction enterprises are operating in Tashkent region – 3,641, Kashkadarya region – 3,383, Fergana region – 3,303, Andijan region – 3,163 and Samarkand region – 3,150.

At the same time, 2, 795 construction enterprises operate in Bukhara region, 2,550 – in Surkhandarya region, 2 329 - in Karakalpakstan Republic, 2 322 – in Namangan region, 2 058 – in Jizzakh region, 1939 – in Khorezm region, 1595 – in Navoi region and 1510 companies operate in Syrdarya region.

In October 2020 it was reported that the construction industry was one of the first industries in Uzbekistan to resume its operation after the suspension at the end of March due to increased quarantine restrictions.

At the beginning of May 2020, construction and repair work at facilities were allowed throughout the country in compliance with sanitary standards.

“The current situation affected our work processes, but at the same time did not affect the delivery time of objects. The projects that we planned to launch this year are also being implemented within the established deadlines. This is although difficulties in the supply of building materials and components, as well as a sharp jump in the dollar exchange rate, added to the problems associated with the coronavirus,” said a representative of forwarding Development Group Development Company.
