The foundation of another railway line in Iran, which is planned to be connected to Azerbaijan, may be laid soon, the Iranian MP Kazem Mousavi told Trend.
The MP noted that this railway is the Ardabil-Parsabad railway line in the Ardabil (north-western Iran). Thus, the railways of Ardabil Province will be connected to Azerbaijan, as well as, other countries through Azerbaijan.
Mousavi added that this railway line will help connect Ardabil Province to the North-South Corridor.
“In this regard talks were being held with Iranian Minister of Roads and Urban Development Rostam Ghasemi,” he said.
The MP also said that about 100 billion rials (about $2.38 million) has been spent on research regarding the construction of this railway line. It is estimated that more than 10 trillion rials (about $238 million) will be spent on the construction of the railway line.
Reportedly, the length of Iran’s Ardabil-Parsabad railway line will be about 250 km.
