Turkish company to build hybrid power plant in Turkmenistan

Turkish company Çalik Enerji Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. has won a tender for the construction of Turkmenistan's first hybrid solar and wind power plant with a capacity of 10 MW, Trend reports citing to Orient news.

The station to be built in the Balkan region around Altyn Asyr, the region’s largest artificial lake, will provide the settlement with an eco-friendly energy source.

The project will boost the capacity of Turkmenistan's electric power industry, which aims to generate up to 35.5 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity by 2030. Furthermore, the project will contribute to the region's environmental well-being, create new jobs and assist in the training of Turkmen personnel in this profile.

The Abu Dhabi Development Fund is funding the project through credit with a loan term of up to 15 years and a grace period of three years at a rate of four percent per annum.

The project of the innovative facility was developed by the research and production center of the State Energy Institute of Turkmenistan.

The new power plants will contribute to Turkmenistan's expected 8.7 percent increase in exports by 2025.
