Monitoring over Bird Flue Commenced in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. S.Babayeva / The tenth monitoring over the bird flue was held in Azerbaijan within 2007, Yolchu Khanvali, the press-secretary of the Public Veterinary Service at the Azerbaijani Agriculture Ministry, said on 22 October.

The monitoring would be completed on 26 October, Khanvali said. The results of laboratory examinations of blood samples of birds will be announced on 3 November.

Monitoring is being held in Absheron Peninsula, Davachi, Salyan, Agjabadi and Lankaran regions of Azerbaijan. Monitoring is being held by a special commission consisting of specialists from the veterinary service at the Ecology, Health Ministries.

The state service has examined about 8,000 blood samples of wild and domestic animals. No virus was revealed.
