Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend S.Aliyev / The ministries and administrations of Azerbaijan have concluded considering a State Program on Azerbaijani Railway Development in 2008-2011, Musa Panahov, the Azerbaijani Deputy Transport Minister, said on 22 November. The program will be adopted shortly.
According to Panahov, a delay in the approval of the program is linked with further re-organization of the Azerbaijani State Railway. At present possible forms of reorganization are under consideration.
The cost of the program is $1.2bln. A delay in approval of the program can be linked with the volume of work to be done. It might concern the issues on reconstruction of exiting infrastructure, which the program allocated half the funds, but not the establishment of the new one. However, program indicates not only the reconstruction work, but also the construction.
Under the program it is planned to carry out the reconstruction of locomotive and carriage fleet of the railway, the improvement of the energy economy, the reconstruction of railway and work on rehabilitation of another infrastructure.
