Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend S.Babayeva / Azerbaijan will for the first time participate in The International Green Week Berlin 2008, the national stand at the international exhibition of food industry, agriculture and gardening, to be held in Germany from 18 to 27 January, Rudiger Ohst, a representative of the German Ministry of Protection of Consumers, Foodstuff and Agriculture, said.
Azerbaijan is going to present its food products in the show. The Green Week, founded 82 years ago, will be held for the 73rd time in the year 2008. Since 1926 over 73,000 participants from 116 countries demonstrated their food products, agriculture and gardening products at the show, which was attended by 30 million visitors ranging from the retail and wholesale sellers to the ordinary visitors.
Messe Berlin GmbH is an organizer of the international Green Week in Berlin in 2008. Non-commercial sponsors to the event are the German Association of Farmers (Deutscher Bauernverband, DBV) and the German Organization of Food Industry (Bundesvereinigung der Deutschen Ernahrungsindustrie, BVE).
The Green Week displays a range of goods like:
- Food and exotic products
- Fresh food
- Beer, wine and other alcohol drinks
- Meat and sausage products
- Sea products
- Tea, greens and species
- Equipments and vehicles for the agriculture and gardening - Seeds
- Greenhouse, hothouse and the garden appliances
- Pedigree cattle
- Kitchen and home appliances
The previous event was attended by over 400 leading politicians from Germany and the other countries, including Angela Merkel, the German Chancellor and Khose Manuel Barroza. Ismat Abbasov, the Azerbaijan Agriculture Minister, represented Azerbaijan in the Green Week and signed a joint statement with Government of Germany on the improvement of the sanitary and phyto-sanitary control in Azerbaijan, as part of Azerbaijan's entrance to the World Trade Organization. The Minister also participated in the West-East Agro-forum on Agriculture and bio-energy, held within the framework of the exhibition. He held meeting with the Agriculture Ministers of Germany, Russia, Ukraine, Turkey, and the other countries to discuss the expansion of cooperation .An international conference of agriculture ministers, an international forum on the agriculture policy and the other events will be held in 2008 within the framework of the exhibition.
