State Customs to Engage Foreign Workers May be Increased in   Azerbaijan  -Minister

Azerbaijan, Baku, 12 January / Trend / The jobless level decreased by 4.1% in Azerbaijan to 2003, Fizuli Alakparov, the Labour and Social protection Minister of Azerbaijan, said during the conference of the Cabinet of Ministers, dedicated to the socio-economic development of the state in 2007 and plans for 2008.

According to the Minister, the jobless level made up 6.6% in the country to November 2007. In 2007, the engagement bodies of the country provided over 30,000 of people with new jobs, which is more by 8.5% as compared to 2006.

The Minister said that the regional training centre has been opened in Baku in order to increase the quality of professional skill. About 650 people appealed to the centre. About 95% of applicants were provided with jobs after checking. The similar centres will be opened in Nakhchivan and Geychay.

Speaking about problems, the Minister said that today the state customs to engage foreign people made up AZN 44 in Azerbaijan, and as a result there has been observed a big flow of low-quality labour force in market of the country. The Ministry is to develop proposals to change the sum of the state customs.

By the end of 2007 the number of foreigners, engaged in Azerbaijan, made up 1,783, which is by 35% more as compared to 2006.

The Minister stated about the problems in the construction sector of the country. In 2007, about 159 owners of construction companies were warned as a result of revealed violations in constructed areas. Labour agreements were signed with about 11,000 workers and labour agreements of 5,750 workers were restored.
