Trend U.Ismaylova / The Labor Inspection of Azerbaijan's Ministry of Labor and Social Protection intends to assist in reducing the number of deaths and accidents caused within the construction sector, said the Inspection's Head, Nabi Shukurlu, at the seminar 'Labor Protection in Construction Sphere'.
"The Labor Inspection attempts to make the employers totally understand the responsibility and take measures to improve the security of their workers," Shukurlu said.
According to the results of the monitoring by the Labor Inspection in 2007, more than 70 people died in the construction sector.
Shukurlu said that the Inspection intends to continue the enlightenment works amongst employers to ensure security of the workers, signing of labor contracts by accurately describing labor payment.
In addition, in 2007 the Inspection took many measures to ensure labor security, yet significant improvements were not observed in this regard. As a result of the monitoring, the rights of the workers were found to be violated in the signing of labor contracts. In most cases, the labor payments are being described as minimal wages which amounted to AZN 50 in 2007, while the labor payment in the construction sector is AZN 250-300.
