( dpa ) - British Prime Minister Gordon Brown is due to have talks in London Tuesday with key European leaders to discuss reforms in the global economy following the recent turmoil and the challenge of climate change, officials said.

French President Nicolas Sarkozy, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Italian Premier Romano Prodi and European Commission President Jose Manuel Barrosso will gather at Downing Street for the talks later Tuesday.

Brown's spokesman said the leaders would discuss "issues such as transparency surrounding off-balance-sheet risks faced by banks, issues such as cross-border co-operation and management of financial crises".

The discussions would be wide-ranging and focus primarily on the economy and financial markets.
