Japan to Assist Azerbaijan to Improve Ambulance Services

Azerbaijan, Baku, 6 March / corr. Trend S. Babayeva/ The Japanese government will allocate grant worth 222mln yens (some $2.05mln) to Azerbaijan to carry out the project on improvement of ambulance service in Baku, the Cabinet of Minister of Azerbaijan said.

"The grant agreement was signed in Baku on 5 March. Hideomi Nakajima, the charges d'affaires of Japanese Embassy in Azerbaijan and Abid Sharifov, the vice-premier of Azerbaijan signed the agreement.

The project aims at developing of ambulance services in four hospitals of Baku including Baku City Clinics #3 and #6, and the Republican Neurological Hospital and United Hospital #26. The majority of the equipment will go the Intensive Care and Gynecology Departments.

Since 1999, the Japanese government has carried out 6 projects in Azerbaijan worth 3bln yens ($27.9mln).

The sum total of the projects financed in Azerbaijan by Japan totals $729mln, which were carried out to improve the economic infrastructure, agriculture, and social and cultural spheres.
