Mercedes-Benz Occupies Half of Azerbaijan’s Secondary Automobile Market

Azerbaijan, Baku, 11 March / Trend corr U. Ismayilova/ Some 22,000-25,000 automobiles are sold in Azerbaijan per month, the public organization Real Estate Market Participants reported on 11 March. The increasing demand for foreign cars caused a rise in the number of companies engaged in automobile sales in the country.

"Three years ago, only 4-5 representatives of large automobile manufacturers were operating in Azerbaijan, and now their number amounts to 20, while the number of outlets reached 80," the organization reported.

The average price of a car in the primary automobile market of Baku is $250,000, but the secondary market (second-hand) is far more intensive. According to results of the market analysis for February, cars with prices varying between $17,000 and $24,000 were purchased most of all. In the secondary market, the sale of Mercedes-Benz cars touched 45%, BMW - 12%, Opel - 8.5%. The total number of German cars in the second-hand market of Azerbaijan comprised 65%. Toyota takes the 4th place (5%), Nissan takes 5th (4.4%), and Hyundai is 6th (4%).

The automobile market of Azerbaijan is the second largest after the property market, where up to 5,000 premises are sold a month.
