Azerbaijan Want to Attract Investors to Economy from  Persian Gulf

Azerbaijan, Baku, 18 march / Trend corr. S.Babayeva / In the first quarter of 2008, the Azerbaijani Investment Comany (AIC) is planning to visit the Persian Gulf in order to attract investments into the Caspian International Investment Company (CIIC)- founded jointly with Islamic Corporation for Private Sector Development, Anar Akhundov, AIC Executive Director said.

"We want to familiarize them with Azerbaijan and organize meetings with the State and private sector," he said.

"Our target is to attract investments for CIIC, but the company must also itself attract investments and renders financial services," AIC director said.

According to Akhundov, the initial projects have been specified and CIIC will work with these projects. Today, seven projects have been considered and cost of these projects will be specified after the development of feasibility studies. Projects cover spheres like commercial property, development of agricultural products and logistic.

CIIC management plans to hold a 'road show' in the Persian Gulf countries.

Touching upon the registration of CIIC, Akhundov said that it may be implemented within a week.

Despite of AIC, CIIC will put forward minimum demands on investments and stable system. Presently, the maximum sum is defined at $10mln, but the sum may be decreased after the decision of CIIC Supervision Council.
