Eight Consortiums Offer Consultations to Improve Vocational Education in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan, Baku, 31 March / Trend corr I. Khalilova/ The European Commission defined the shortlist of candidates to the project to improve the vocational education policy. At the end of April the final selection stage will be held in Brussels, Rufat Mammadov, the Executive Director of the coordination office of the EU Technical Assistance for Azerbaijan program (Tacis) said.

Eight consortiums are offering their consulting services - ABU Consult Berlin GmbH (DE): AKMH Institute for Vocational Training S.A. (GR), Integration Management Consultants (DE), Nehem International (NL), British Council ( UK) - Aarhus Technical College (DK), PEM GmbH (DE), European Profiles S.A. (GR) - Aalborg Technical College (DK), Scottish Qualifications Authority ( UK), Human Resources and Technical Assistance Ltd (CY), GOPA Consultants (DE) - G & G Consulting (TR), Hifab International AB (SU)- S.I.C.I. Dominus (ES), IFOA - Istituto Formazione Operatori Aziendali (IT) - IBF International Consulting (BE) и DVV International (DE), InWent - Internationale Weiterbildung und Entwicklung gGmbH (DE) - CCI Mulhouse - Chambre de Commerce et d'Industrie Sud Alsace Mulhouse (FR), WYG International Ltd ( UK) - DeLeeuw International Ltd (TR) and ASPI Consulting Engineers Inc. (AZ).

To implement the project which is intended for 2 years, the EU has allotted €2.5mln. The funds will be spent to develop the curriculum, improve the teaching system, education and for the purchase of equipment (software, computers). EU is ready to support the establishment of the first vocational school on tourism.

The project is being implemented within the framework of the Tacis national action plan for the 2006 fiscal year.
