Automobile Transport Bill Passed

Azerbaijan, Baku, 3 April / Trend corr. I.Alizadeh / The Azerbaijani Parliament has passed the Bill on Automobile transport. "The draft law defines legal, organizational and economic basis of the passenger and cargo transportations by vehicles to Azerbaijan," Ziyad Samadzade, the chairman of Standing Commission on Economic Policy, stated.

Samadzade stated the draft law was passed during the second reading of the Parliament on 4 March. Some changes have been made in the draft law.

As per the law, passenger transportation by taxi is carried out by transporters registered in tax departments which have a license, on the basis of certain payment set by equipment, and which have passed the metrological check.

At the same time, transporters, who carry out passenger transportation by taxi, will use stops envisaged only for the vehicles.

"There are severe laws for transport and passenger transports in most of the countries. Azerbaijan needs such laws. The delivery of huge buses in Baku has aroused a serious intention in this sphere. Therefore, there is need to pass the Bill on Automobile transport," Samadzade added.

The draft law will regulate the relations among the state departments, transporters and passengers.

The project envisages creation of norms and rules to function in this sphere, development and state support to entrepreneurship, and protection and development of free and competitiveness atmosphere.
