New Bus Station in   Baku to be Commissioned by late Summer: Deputy Transport Minister

Azerbaijan, Baku, 29 April / corr Trend E.Ismayilov / The new international bus station located in Baku will be commissioned in August, Musa Panahov, the Azerbaijani Transport Minister, said on 29 April.

According to Panahov, this station will fulfill the international, city and capital passenger transportation system, said. At the same time, it will provide a respite for transit passengers, as well as those travelling in and out of Baku. The complex will include an hotel and a trade center.

The contractor for the construction of the bus station is Bak? XXI Esr. The construction of this first ever station commenced in May 2004. Its total area is 164,000 sq m. The bus station is intended to serve passengers arriving in Baku in the northern direction and via international routes.

The new station is allocated to serve 18,000-20,000 passengers (800-950 buses) a day. Parking for 720 cars will in the basement of the new building. Approximately 1,500 trade outlets will be placed in the first and second floors, bus platforms and other public catering facilities will be situated on the third floor.
