Azerbaijan, Baku, 5 May / Trend corr Y. Huseynov/ Jordan's King Abdullah II is visiting Azerbaijan. On 5 May, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and King Abdullah II held a one-to-one meeting involving a wide format during which they discussed the successful development of bilateral relations in different fields and the great opportunities in which to expand relations. The participants exchanged their views regarding bilateral relations in regional and international issues.

A range of documents was signed between the Azerbaijani government and the Kingdom of Jordan. The agreement on Avoidance of Double Taxation of Property and Incomes and Prevention of Tax Evasion between Azerbaijan and Jordan was undersigned by the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov and Jordan Minister for Trade and Industry Amir al-Habibi.

The first Azerbaijani-Jordan business forum and the Jordan national exhibition took place in Baku in November 2006 during the visit of Jordan's Prime Minister Marouf Al Bakhit to Azerbaijan. His delegation included representatives of over 30 companies in the field of construction, chemistry, food industry, health, agriculture and production of domestic equipment. The second exhibition and business forum will take place in Baku on 6 May.

The turnover between Azerbaijan and Jordan totalled $1,291,800 (0.01% of Azerbaijan's total turnover) in 2007. In January 2008, the import of goods from Jordan to Azerbaijan comprised $19,900. During that period export operations were not carried out.
