Azerbaijan, Baku, 7 May / corr Trend U.Ismayilova / Azerbaijan will not suffer deficiency of bread, Ramiz Mehdiyev, head-of-staff of the President's Executive Apparat, stated in Baku on 7 May.
"The market economy conditions do not encourage the administrative interference into this situation, so we should either act by methods adopted during the Soviet period, live with the principles of market economy," Mehdiyev said.
Last week, bread prices jumped from AZN 0.30 to AZN 0.40. The increase was caused by ban imposed by Kazakhstan on grain export until Sep2008 to protect its domestic market amid price hike at world grain market.
According to Mehdiyev, the Azerbaijan Government will take definite steps to avoid the crisis situation arising from the deficiency of grain. "The Cabinet of Ministers will take actions for grain import to Azerbaijan," he said
Azerbaijan's annul demand in grain is 3mln tons, and 1mln tons of it is imported.
