Experts Forecast Huge Expenditures for Creation of Etalon Centre in Azerbaijan
Azerbaijan, Baku, 4 June / Trend corr S. Babayeva/ "According to international experts, about 15mln euro will be required within five years to create etalon centre in Azerbaijan," Director General of the Azerbaijan State Agency on Standardization, Metrology and Patents, Ramiz Hasanov said.
"The state program covering 2008-2013 has been submitted to the Government for consideration," he said.
According to Hasanov, repair and assembly work for the etalon centre which is expected to be opened in near future is close to completion.
Nine etalons intended to measure pressure and weight have been purchased for $400,000 and four etalons will be purchased this year. Next year time etalons will be bought. The Agency plans to purchase a total of 50 etalons within five years.
According to the State Agency, introduction of etalons in Azerbaijan and creation of the centre is crucial because favourable investment climate in the country expands the number of foreign investment countries. The companies apply to foreign countries to check the conformity of measuring facilities' technical requirements, because neither Azerbaijan no neighbouring countries have state measurement units (etalons). And that results in flow of huge money from Azerbaijan to abroad.
Local companies spend most part of their money for this purpose. After the centre is established their expenditures will drop by 10 times.
