GDP Growth Rate Comprises 16.7% in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan, Baku, 15 August /corr. Trend I.Khalilova / Over seven months of 2008, the GDP of Azerbaijan grew by 16.7% as compared to the same period of last year by, the State Statistics Committee said. In the current prices, the index the GDP totaled AZN 23 017.1mln. The amount of GDP per capita made up AZN 2696.2 ($3248.1), increasing by 15.4%.

The total amount of production in all spheres of economy was 75.9% of GDP, increasing by 18.8%, where major part - 64.2% (AZN 14779mln) fell on industry. The specific weight of the service sphere in the GDP was 17.2%. In the service sphere, the value added tax grew by 10.6% as compared to the same period of last year. Net taxes from the production and import were 6.9% in the GDP.

In January-July in the agriculture, the additional cost in hunting sector and the forestry  was AZN 1150.8mln, which is 5% of the GDP, construction sector - AZN 1533mln (6.7%), transport - AZN 952.8mln (4.1%), communications and post services - AZN 331.9mln (1.5%), wholesale and retail trade, automobile sphere, home appliances and repairing service - AZN 1204.8mln (5.2%), restaurant and hotel sector - AZN 200.5mln (0.9%), rendering of social and other services - AZN 1273mln (5.5%).
