Poland Wants to Assist Azerbaijan to Join WTO and Call on EU to Create Free Economic Zone in Caucasus

Poland, Krinitsa, 13 September / Trend corr. V.Sharifov / Poland offers Azerbaijan assistance to accelerate joining the World Trade Organization (WTO). Martsin Korolets, Polish Deputy Economic Minister, said at the 18th economic forum in Krinitsa that Poland was ready to send experts to Azerbaijan to assist the country to join WTO.

Korolets stated that the Georgian-S.Ossetin conflict in August aroused new opinion about the economic cooperation of the EU with the Caucasian region.

"The situation in Caucasus may stabilize by means of the economic strengthening of countries," Korolets said delivering a speech at the 'EU- South Caucasus: prospective directions in economic cooperation' workshop.

The Polish Deputy Minister called on the EU countries to commence the negotiations with the South Caucasus countries to create Free trade zones.

"Free trade zone is a business and investment. This is so-called Free trade zone- plus," said Korolets.

Rasim Ramzanov, Director of the Azerbaijani Intelligence Centre SIGMA, headed the 'EU- South Caucasus: prospective directions in economic cooperation' workshop. The workshop was attended by Azerbaijan, Poland, Georgia, Russia, Ukraine, Armenia and European Parliament.
