Uzbekistan, Tashkent, 22 October / corr Trend T.Zhukov / President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov signed the decree On measures to optimize sown areas and increase production of food crops, Trend correspondent in Tashkent reports.
In accordance with the decree, Uzbekistan will increase the areas under eared grain-crops of harvest of 2009 by almost 50,000 hectares. Moreover, the areas of vegetable, oil-bearing and other food crops will be increased greatly. Areas under food crops will be expanded due to reduction of crops of cotton.
The Uzbek Ministry of Agriculture and Water Industry is charged to provide realization of complex of measures to organize additional sowing of winter eared grain-crops from October to November of 2006.
Uzdonmakhsulot joint-stock company is authorized to use seed of eared grain-crops, which were stored up in state reserves besides provided volumes, for additional crops.
