U.Ismayilova / The main fund of Azerbaijan's construction sector grew in 2008 to AZN 6bln, Elkhan Asadov, deputy head of the Emergency Situations Ministry's Construction Safety Agency, said at the opening ceremony of the 14th Azerbaijani International Construction Exhibition.
According to Asadov, the country's housing stock has grown fourfold to 1.6mln sq m in 2008, which drew foreign investors in the construction sector of Azerbaijan. Companies from Japan, Germany and South Korea operate in Azerbaijan's construction market.
A total of 250 companies from 20 countries are involved in the exhibition, said Edward Strachan, representative of the ITE Group PLC - organizer of the exhibition.
