Azerbaijan, Baku, 24 October / corr Trend U.Ismaylova / "Development of tourism in Azerbaijan created an attractive investment climate for Lithuanian companies, specializ ed in building of wooden houses," Kestutis Kudzmanas, Lithuanian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Azerbaijan, said.

"I believe that the Azerbaijani companies can become interested in such houses, comfortable for

tourist industry," the ambassador said.

According to State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan, tourist companies served 28,6000 tourists in January to June. Almost 95% of tourists were served in Baku.

Such wooden houses are bought by Denmark, Great Britain, Sweden, Russia and Germany from

Lithuania, the ambassador said.

Examining the Azerbaijani market Lithuanian entrepreneurs were surprised that some construction materials are two or three times expensive than similar products in Lithuania and it creates competitive advantage. These materials are, mainly, wood floors, parquets and oak, Kudzmanas said.

Such difference is connected with transport charges or the fact that Lithuania achieved the opportunity to reduce prices due to large volume of domestic production, the ambassador said.

Lithuanian economy increases, mainly, due to export.

According to State Committee on Statistics of Azerbaijan , turnover between Azerbaijan and Lithuania made up $12mln from January to September 2008.
