Azerbaijani Culture and Tourism Ministry Considers Temporary Staff Deficit in Tourism Sphere

Azerbaijan, Baku, 28 October / Trend , corr. U.Ismayilova / "Deficit in the tourism staff in Azerbaijan is a temporary phenomenon. The problem will be removed within several years," Aydin Ismiyev, the head of the Tourism Department of the Culture and Tourism Ministry of Azerbaijan, said at the joint 'round table' 'Training of staff in the tourism sphere and placing in a job', which was implemented by the Central Employment Department of the Labour and Social Protection Ministry and Tourism Sector of the Culture and Tourism Ministry.

"Nobody can deny problems in the tourism sphere. At the same time, nobody can deny the development that has been taking place in this sphere since 2001," Ismiyev said.

The main step which was taken to remove the problem was the opening of the Tourism Institute three years ago.

"The staff problem in the tourism sphere will be solved after the institute will have graduators," Ismiyev said.

According to the State Statistic Committee, in Jan-Sept 2008, the number of tourist companies in Azerbaijan made up 107 and 1,300 people is occupied in this sphere. In the first half of 2008, tourist companies served 28,600 tourists and 94.4% tourists visited Baku.
