Azerbaijan Ratifies Customs Agreement with Slovakia

Azerbaijan, Baku, 2 December /corr. Trend I.Khalilova / The Parliament of Azerbaijan ratified the Inter-Governmental agreement on co-operation and mutual assistance in customs issues between Azerbaijan and Slovakia, which was signed on 27 June 2008 in Brussels.

According to the agreement, the customs bodies of the two countries will render assistance to each other in accurate introduction of the customs legislation, determination of customs duties, taxes and other payments, including tariff classification of commodities, costs and destination countries. In addition, assistance will be provided in taking measures for accelerating and simplifying trade turnover and passenger transportation. 

Furthermore, the customs bodies intend to carry out joint combating violation of customs legislation, exchange technical experience.

The sides must inform each other of illegal turnover of drugs, psychotropic substances, illegal transportation of arms and explosive materials, commodities with high customs duties, taxes and payments.

Implementation of this agreement must not affect the obligations on other international conventions and agreements.
