Business Materials 17 December 2008 12:22 (UTC +04:00)

A joint venture to produce equipment for potato cultivation and harvesting with the use of the Belarusian component parts will be set up in Udmurtia. The agreement was reached in the course of the negotiations between the Belarus' NAS Scientific and Practical Centre for Agriculture Mechanization and the Russian delegation headed by Deputy Chairman of the Government of Udmurtia Vladimir Varlamov and Agriculture and Food Minister Alexander Korobeinikov, BelTA informs.

According to Director General of the Centre, Candidate of Economic Sciences Vladimir Samosyuk, the Russian delegation was deeply interested in new developments - a semi-integral potato-planter and a water sprinkler.

The potato-planter won gold at the 10th Russian Agrarian Exhibition Golden Autumn. The Belarusian development does not yield to its German competitor Grimme. The specialists of the centre have applied a unique patent constructive scheme. The production of a potato-planter has been developed by the Experimental Plant of Belarus' NAS Scientific and Practical Centre for Agriculture Mechanization jointly with the Belarusian engineering plants.

The sides agreed that after the joint venture is set up, the Russian side will be able to produce potato-planters independently. The two sides are planning to set up a joint venture to produce water sprinklers as well.

Setting up a joint venture in Udmurtia is another step for the Experimental Plant of Belarus' NAS Scientific and Practical Centre for Agriculture Mechanization to boost the exports. It will be the fifth joint venture set up in Russia together with Belarus' NAS Scientific and Practical Centre for Agriculture Mechanization.
